The interwebs have been ablaze the last few days with endless conjecture about a Ferrari 458 Italia said to sport a V12 engine and built by Ferrari ‘Special Projects’ for one Eric Patrick Clapton Esq.

Rolls-Royce today confirmed a new, eighth model range - a convertible due to join the Phantom, Ghost and Wraith in mid-2016. Goodwood is being tight-lipped on the exact identity of the new Rolls, but CAR can confirm it is the Wraith convertible. Not that Rolls-Royce would do anything as vulgar as call it that; expect a new name.

It was going to happen sooner or later; long-established car makers biting the bullet on warranties to counter the threat form the Koreans with their huge warranties and bargain prices. And it’s Vauxhall that’s jumped in to the fray, offering a lifetime warranty on all new cars with immediate effect. Of course, that’s a ‘Lifetime Warranty’ in what has become the modern, disingenuous fashion.
